Relief Well Cleaning and Pump Testing at Lewisville Dam – Denton County, TX

US Army Corps of Engineers – Tulsa District

Cleaned 16 relief wells and performed (4) staged 24-hour aquifer pump tests on groups of relief wells in two seepage areas at Lewisville Lake Dam for the Southwest Division Dam Safety Production Center.  Pump tests consisted of continuously pumping groups of 3 or 5 wells at a nearly constant rate for a 24-hour period.  Readings were taken in nearby wells and piezometers while pumping, and for at least 24 hours after pumping.  Data logging water level sensors were used in instruments with adequate diameter.  Other instruments were manually read with a water level indicator.  Developed estimates of transmissivity, storativity, radius of influence and hydraulic conductivity for each aquifer test.  Determined the aquifer type and presented plots of the potentiometric groundwater contours both before and after pumping.
