Environmental Restoration & Permitting

Increases in population and land development continue to threaten our natural resources and environment. One challenge to society is how to allow growth to continue while assuring the sustainability and viability of our natural ecosystems.

The balance between these sometimes conflicting goals is considered each time Reitz & Jens takes on an environmental project. Our goal is to create a win-win scenario where development can continue, while enhancing the functions and values of the surrounding environment, using practical, economical methods that meet regulatory requirements. Our ultimate goal is to eliminate the line between development and the environment to create integrated designs that improve the quality of life.

We provide a range of evaluation, design and permitting services that generally relate to the aquatic environment. These include site evaluations and wetland delineations, 404/401 and NPDES permitting, and design of wetland and aquatic ecosystem mitigation, stabilization and enhancement. Our capabilities also include designing methods to increase the connectivity between humans and their environment through parks, trails and conservation areas.

Reitz & Jens has a unique perspective and understanding of the federal and state regulatory agencies with permitting responsibility in aquatic areas, having been directly retained by many of these agencies. Our understanding and experience with agency personnel and regulations enables us to streamline the permitting process, and implement solutions that meet the needs of both our clients and the regulatory bodies that govern them.
